Workshop - Studio lighting with Dan!

Dan will walk you through his favorite studio lighting recipes in an intimate setting where no questions are off limits! His goal will be teaching you to see and use light as a communication tool for enhancing the emotional impact of your images. His focus will be demonstrating relevant lighting styles that he uses regularly on commercial and editorial sets. In this workshop, attendees will photograph a subject and create a character, then build a scene around them, using Photoshop, that tells the story.

Workshop Key take-aways:
-An understanding of texture light, including when and how to create it.
-An understanding of key light, including when and how to use it.
-An understanding of how to choose a lighting style that harmonizes with the vitality of your subject.
-Discerning the difference between commercial light and portrait light.

Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced
Prerequisite: The way I deconstruct lighting is less intimidating than traditional methods, so beginners can still learn a lot an out how to see what they should be looking for when they shoot. But I won't be spending time on the basics like "how to turn on a flash and sync it to your camera," My focus will be about harnessing light as an integral part of the creative process vs. formulas to be memorized and regurgitated.
